Have you not read the verse of the Qur’an?

بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم

‘Aishah رضي الله عنها narrates, “A man came to the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم and said, ‘O’ Messenger of Allah, I have servants who lie to me, who betray me, who are dishonest to me and who verbally abuse me so in turn I punish them and I also verbally abuse them so what is my connection in relationship with them?’ Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم replied, ‘On the Day of Reckoning, their abuse, their disobedience, their betrayal and their lies shall all be measured and your punishment and you abuse in turn will also be measured. If their abuse, their lying, their betrayal and their dishonesty all exceeds your punishment, then you will be in the clear and you will have a right over them. But if your punishment exceeds their crime, then they will have a right over you.’” ‘Aishah رضي الله عنها continues, “The man restricted himself in a corner and began screaming and wailing. Then the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم said to him, ‘Have you not read the verse of the Qur’an, ‘On the Day of Reckoning, We shall establish the scales of justice and then no soul shall suffer any injustice in the least and even if it be something to the measure of a mustard seed, We shall produce it and We are sufficient as those who We reckon.’ So the man said, ‘O’ Messenger of Allah, how can I live with them? To me, the best choice is to part with their company and I make you a witness that I have freed all of them.’”

‘AbduLlah ibn ‘Amr al ‘Aas رضي الله عنه narrated, “The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم said, ‘On the Day of Reckoning, those who are just will be upon the pulpits of noor, on the Right hand side of ar-Rahman and both the Hands of ar-Rahman are Right. Those who are just in their judgement, those who are just in their families and those who are just for any responsibility they may assume.’”

“…My servant keeps drawing nearer to Me with

voluntary deeds until I Love him.”

بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم

الحمد الله

عليكم ورحمت الله و بركاته السلام

“Whoever prays twelve rak’ahs of prayer voluntarily in a day and night, Allah will build him a house in Paradise.”

[‘Sahih Muslim’; 1/503]

“The first thing which the people will be called to account for of their actions on the Day of Judgment is their prayer. If it is in a good state, he is successful and has passed. If it is in a bad state, he has failed and has lost. Allah will then Say: ‘See if there are some optional prayers that can compensate for the deficiency in his obligatory prayer!’ Then, all the actions will be dealt with similarly.”

[‘Sahih at-Tirmidhi’; 1/130]

“Allah Says: “My servant approaches Me with nothing more beloved to Me than what I have made obligatory upon him, and My servant keeps drawing nearer to Me with voluntary deeds until I Love him. And when I love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand with which he seizes, and his foot with which he walks. If he asks Me, I will surely give to him, and if he seeks refuge in Me, I will surely protect him.””

[‘Fath al-Bari’; # 6502]

1 – Fajr

“Two rak’ahs before the Fajr prayer is better than the World and all that is in it.”

[‘Sahih Muslim’; 1/501]

‘A’ishah said: “The Prophet was never more obliged to an optional deed than the two rak’ahs before Fajr.”

[‘Sahih al-Bukhari’; 1/393]

2 – Dhuhr

“Whoever is constant and regular in praying four rak’ahs before Dhuhr and four afterwards, then the fire of Hell will not touch him.”

[‘Sahih al-Jami”; # 6195]

3 – ‘Asr

“May Allah have Mercy on the one who prays four rak’ahs before ‘Asr.”

[‘Sahih al-Jami”; # 3493]

4 – Maghrib

{“And those who spend the night before their Lord, prostrate and standing.”} [al-Furqan; 64]

al-Kalbi said: “Whoever prays two rak’ahs after the Maghrib prayer and four after the ‘Isha‘ prayer will be considered like those mentioned in this verse.”

[‘Tafsir al-Qurtubi’]

5 – ‘Isha’

{“And those who spend the night before their Lord, prostrate and standing.”} [al-Furqan; 64]

Ibn ‘Abbas said: “Whoever prays two rak’ahs or more after the ‘Isha’ prayer will be considered like those mentioned in this verse.”

[‘Tafsir al-Qurtubi’]

6 – Duha

“Whoever prays four rak’ahs of Duha prayer, and before the first, he prays four (for a total of eight), a house is built for him in Paradise.”

[‘Sahih al-Jami”; # 6340]

“Allah Said: “O Children of Adam! Pray to me four rak’ahs at the beginning of the day, and I will suffice you until the end of it.”

[‘Sahih al-Jami”; # 1913]

“Nobody is constant in performing the Duha except the one who is awwab, and it is the prayer of the awwabbin (the ones who return to the straight path, or return to their home in Paradise).”

[‘Sahih al-Jami”; # 7628]

“Whoever makes ablution and proceeds to the mosque for the Duha prayer, then this is easier for him than participating in a battle, has greater spoils, and is quicker in return.”

[‘Sahih at-Targhib wat-Tarhib’; 1/349]

7 – Witr

“O people of the Qur’an! Perform your Witr, for surely Allah Loves the Witr.”

[‘Sahih al-Jami”; # 7860]

8 – Prayer after ablution

“Whoever makes ablution – and makes it well – then prays two rak’ahs, not letting his mind wander in them, then Allah Forgives him all of his previous sins.”

[‘Silsilat al-Ahadith as-Sahihah’; # 6041]

“Whoever makes ablution – and makes it well – then prays two rak’ahs concentrating on them intensely with his heart and his face, then Paradise is obligatory for him.”

[‘Silsilat al-Ahadith as-Sahihah’; # 6062]

“Whoever leaves something for Allah…”

“Whoever leaves something for Allah…”

عليكم ورحمت الله و بركاته السلام

{“…And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him out of every difficulty, and He will provide for him from where he could never imagine.”} [at-Talaq; 2-3]

Hudhayfah bin al-Yaman رضي الله عنه narrated that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم said: “The glance at the woman is a poisonous arrow from the arrows of the Devil. Whoever leaves it out of the fear of Allah, then Allah will reward him with faith whose sweetness he will taste in his heart.”

[Reported by Ahmad in his ‘Musnad,’ and it is authentic]

Malik bin Dinar رحمه الله said: “The Gardens of Delight are between the Gardens of Firdaws and the Gardens of Eden. In them one has servants made out of the roses of Paradise. They will be inhabited by those who were about to engage in a sin, but then remembered Allah – the Mighty and Exalted – and stopped themselves from doing so, and bowed their necks out of the fear of Allah.”

al-Hasan al-Basri رحمه الله narrated:

“There was a fornicating woman who had exceeded the people of her era in beauty, and would not let any man sleep with her unless he paid her one hundred dinars. One day, a man saw her and was attracted to her, so he went and worked until he earned the one hundred dinars and came to her. She told him: “Pay it to the man at the door so that he may count it and weigh it.” When he did this, she told him to enter. She had a luxurious home and a bed made of gold. She told him: “Come to me.” When he was about to have intercourse with her, he suddenly remembered his standing before Allah on the Day of Resurrection, so it was as if he was struck with lightning and his desire was put out.

He said to her: “Allow me to leave you, and you can keep the money.”

She replied: “How can you do this now, when you saw me and was attracted to me, and went and worked hard to collect the one hundred dinars, and when you are finally with me, you do what you did?”

He said: “By Allah, I did not do this out of anything except for the fear of Allah, and the thought of my standing between His Hands.”

She said: “If you are truthful in what you say, then I want to marry nobody except you!”

He told her: “Let me leave.”

She said: “No, not unless you promise me that you will marry me!”

He said: “I cannot do anything until I leave first.”

She then said to him: “You must promise Allah that if I come to you where you live, then you will marry me!”

He said: “It might be so. We will see.”

So, he put on his clothes, left her, and travelled back to his land. She later travelled to his land with all that she owned – regretting the circumstances under which they had met each other – until she arrived and asked about him. When she arrived at his home, it was said to him: “The queen herself has arrived and asked about you!” When he saw her, he was in such a state of shock that he collapsed and died.

His body fell into her arms, so she said: “As for him, then I have missed out on the chance to be with him. Does he have any close relatives?” It was said to her: “Yes, his brother, but he is a poor man.” So, she said to him: “I will marry you out of my love for your dead brother.”

She married him and bore for him seven righteous sons.”

[‘at-Tawwabin’ by Ibn Qudamah al-Maqdisi; p. 41-42]

أََلُغِنَاء رُقْيَاةُ زِنَاء!

Singing is the Facilitator to Adultery/Fornication!

بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم

السلام عليكم و رحمت الله و بركاته

الحمد الله

A man came to ‘AbduLlah ibn ‘Abbas رضي الله عنه and asked him, “Is singing permissible?” He رضي الله عنه said, “Do you see the truth and the falsehood, when they come forth on the Day of Judgement, which side the music will be on?” He said, “It will be with the falsehood.” Then ‘AbduLlah رضي الله عنه said, “Go, you have answered your own question by yourself.”

  • The gathering of haram things is mostly surrounded by haram things
  • It doesn’t bring you closer to Allah سبحانه و تعالى

The early scholars used to say, “Music and the Qur’an can not be combined together in the heart.”

‘AbduLlah رضي الله عنه said, “Al ghinaa, ruqyatuz Zinaa” “Singing is the facilitator to zina’.”

Ibn Qudamah رحمه الله in at-Tawaabeen:

A righteous man listened to a song by lady one day. He stopped but the man called him in and put a curtain btw him and her. Then he allowed him to see her. Then he used to come daily to her and one day she claimed her love for him and he also did the same. But he feared Allah سبحانه و تعالى and went away weeping.

Yazid bin Waleed رحمه الله said, “O’ Bani Umayyah, stay away from singing because it will take the shyness away from the people and it will increase the desires and the lust of people. And will take the manly hood of the people. It will replace alcohol. If you are really going to do it, then at least keep it away from the women for singing is one of the callers to fornication.”

Also the Khalifah Sulaiman ibn ‘Abdul Malik رحمه الله heard someone singing and was upset. So, in the morning he had the singers gathered and said to them, “When the male horse makes his sound, the female horse prepares to mate. When camel makes a sound, the she camel gets ready for him. When the male goat makes the sound, the female goat gets ready. And the man would sing and the woman would long for him.” First he commanded them to punished very severely but the scholar ‘Umar bin ‘Abdul ‘Aziz رحمه الله said that it was not a prescribed punishment so later, they were sent to another area.

Anjashaa’ رضي الله عنه used to recite poetry with a very melodious voice and this would also enable the camels to be with ease. So once, during a journey, Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم told him to begin his recitation but some time later Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم told Anjashaa’ رضي الله عنه, “O’ Anjashaa’ stop now out of the fear of glass bottles (women).”

There was a man Ma’mar bin Mu’annath who narrates about a poet, Hutay’aa who was travelling with his daughter. He came near the people of Bani Kalb so they feared that he might dislike something from them and might attack them with poetry. So, the people of Bani Kalb said, “Tell us what you like so we can give it you and what you hate so we can stay away from it.” He said, “Do not visit me too much you’ll get bored of me and do not let me listen to the songs of your young men and women because singing is one of the facilitators to fornication.”

‘Umar bin ‘Abdul ‘Aziz رحمه الله wrote to the teachers of his sons, “Let your first lesson be the hatred of musical instruments that begin with shaytaan and end with the wrath of Allah for it reached me from the people of knowledge that listening to songs grows hypocrisy in heart the same way water causes to grow.”

‘Umar bin ‘Abdul ‘Aziz رحمه الله told his sons, “I warn you of singing, I warn you of singing, I warn you of singing! No one listens to except that Allah سبحانه و تعالى will cause him to forget Qur’an.”

Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said, “There will be people amongst my Ummah who will permit adultery/fornication, alcohol, silk for men and musical instruments.” [Sahih al Bukhari]

Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said, “Two sounds are accursed in this world and the next, the sound of musical instruments during the time of happiness and the sound wailing during a calamity.”

Imam Abu Hanifah رحمه الله said, “Singing is one of the biggest sins one needs to leave immediately

Imam Malik رحمه الله was asked by someone regarding the music and he said, “No one would do that except that they are rebellious (faasiq)!”

Imam ash-Shafi’i رحمه الله said concerning the person who listens to music, “He is a faasiq and his testimony is not to be accepted.”

He also said, “I left behind I Baghdad something which the heretics introduced which they called Taghbeer with which they distract people from the Qur’an.” Taghbeer is that type of poetry that encourages ascetic life and it is sung by someone whilst he strikes a rod against some kind of drum or dry skin.

Imam Ahmad رحمه الله said, “Music develops hypocrisy in the heart and I do not like it.”

Al Qasim رحمه الله said, “Singing is part of falsehood.”

Hasan al Basri رحمه الله said, “If there is music involved in a dinner invitation, then do not accept it”

Imam ibn Rajab al Hanbali رحمه الله said, “If anyone attributes the permissibility of music to nay of the respectable scholars then surely he has erred.”
